Files by Google

File management and storage cleanup

Files by Google is a general-purpose file manager for Android phones and tablets. It helps users browse local files, find downloads and media, review large items, and remove clutter from device storage. It suits people who want a simpler way to keep files organized without navigating a complex folder structure.

Useful tools in one app

• Clean: Offers suggestions for removing items such as duplicate files, blurry photos, unused apps, and other storage-heavy content.
• Browse: Groups content into practical categories, including downloads, images, videos, documents, and large files.
• Share: Supports direct file transfers between nearby devices without requiring a cloud upload or mobile data connection.
• Safe Folder: Provides a PIN- or pattern-protected space for files that should not remain visible in the main file list.

Who it suits

This is a good fit for everyday Android users managing limited storage, scattered downloads, or a growing collection of photos and documents. It is also useful when moving files between nearby devices or keeping selected personal content behind an additional lock. Users looking for advanced desktop-style file operations may find its guided approach less detailed, but most routine storage tasks are easy to reach.

Ratings and reach

Files by Google is published by Google LLC in the Tools category. Its 4.51 rating is backed by 8,722,851 reviews, giving the score considerably more context than a small sample would. The app is listed in the 5,000,000,000+ install range, placing it among the most widely used Android utilities. Those numbers point to both broad adoption and a substantial body of user feedback.
